What personal data we collect and why we collect it

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Who we share your data with

As a guest of MadeInPhilly.com, we may sometimes ask you for personal information like name, phone number, address, email address, etc. so that we can better serve you. We promise to keep that information private and secure.

Below, you will read about the ways we collect information, and how we might use it. If you have any questions, please visit our Contact Page and let us know.

Ways we collect information:

* We get information that you directly share with us by phone or on the Internet (i.e., account registration)
* We get information from emails you may send to us.
* We get information when you order from us over the phone or online.

Personal information we may ask for:

When you call to place an order, we ask for your name, telephone number, email address, and complete street address including city, state, and zip code. If you contact us by letter, phone, or email, we will use your sender information and other information you voluntarily send us to more completely answer your questions or concerns.

We do not sell your information:

We do not sell any of your personal information to any third party. We automatically collect information about how our website is used (not specific to any particular guest) so that we may improve the products and services we offer.

How we store your information:

We store information you give us and information we collect in our own secure computer databases.

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

Our policy can change:

This is our current privacy policy, but we reserve the right to change our website and this policy at any time. If our policy changes, the information we collect under our prior policy will continue to be governed by that policy, unless we get your permission to use the information in new ways.
